Safety Gear

Helmet

DOT, ECE or SNELL certified helmet is required. A full face helmet is preferred.

Our insurance providers require that all students wear a helmet during our courses, regardless of exemptions in the Highway Traffic Act.

Jacket

A leather jacket that provides full coverage of your arms and torso is a minimum requirement – no rips or tears! Consider a vented armoured motorcycle jacket. A full denim jacket covering the full arms and torso with no rips or tears is also acceptable.

Gloves

Sturdy, full coverage of your wrists and fingers in leather or specialty materials is required. We recommend gloves with reinforcements over the knuckles.

Pants

Full length denim pants without rips or tears are a minimum requirement. Armoured or leather motorcycling pants are ideal.

Boots

Tough boots with ankle protection are a minimum requirement. Elasticized ankles as found on Chelsea or Blundstone boots do not provide sufficient protection.

We strongly advise against steel-toed boots as they interfere with gear shifting.

Reminders:

– Participants must bring their own complete safety gear (you can borrow, rent, or buy).

– If your gear is incomplete, the instructor will send you home.

– Unsure about your gear? Email pictures to info@learningcurves.ca for confirmation.

– You can also bring your gear to the in-class session for approval.

– For more details, check the Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.) below.

Safety Gear

At Learning Curves, safety is our top priority, and that begins with ensuring you’re properly protected. While motorcycling can never be completely risk-free, wearing the right safety gear can significantly reduce the chances of injury. Before registering for our course, make sure that you have carefully read and agree to the terms of Waiver and Release from liability ↪.

To ensure your safety during our courses, all participants are required to wear the proper protective equipment. We highly recommend armoured motorcycle gear and a full-face helmet for maximum protection. At the very least, you’ll need a DOT or SNELL-approved helmet, sturdy boots that cover your ankles, leather gloves that reach your wrists, a durable jacket, and leather or denim pants. All gear should be made of materials like leather, reinforced denim, or canvas, and must provide full coverage with no rips, tears, or exposed skin.

Please note, we do not currently offer rental or provision of safety gear, so be sure to bring your own!
